Magazine
Cover
This magazine cover was not only designed to go on top of a draggable asset as part of a minigame, but to also give hints as to what the outside world setting is like. This is because in Morningtide Motel, the player never gets to leave the motel. Therefore, I wanted to convey as much of the culture and lifestyle we had fleshed out as possible in the objects the player had access to, because not all of it could be conveyed directly through dialogue. I really enjoyed working on this particularly because it allowed me to do a little bit of graphic design, and also let me portray my own perspective of what I thought the culture of the in-game world was like.

Alternate magazine cover. I chose pillows and eye cream as the advertisements to further emphasize the impact of the magic induced insomnia that was driving the events of the game.

Concepts for the motel's credit card reader and credit card designs. One of the most challenging aspects of designing objects for the game was finding a balance between fantasy, technology driven by magical means, and the early 2000s aesthetic we were going for.

Concept design for the in-game currency. I designed a logo to represent the ruling government body, and based the layout of the bill off of a Mexican peso.
