Project: Morningtide Motel

This is the piece I spent the most time working on during Morningtide Motel's production. It involved a lot of iterations and back and forth between me, our Art Director, and Lead Game Designer because although this asset was produced relatively late, they had not yet communicated an official layout for the motel. Therefore, we had to design the motel around the other existing environments already in the game, while also needing to leave it flexible enough to accommodate smaller details to further strengthen the isolation of the protagonist and reflect the larger themes of the game the player gradually learns. This was also very technically challenging because of the perspective and design of the motel. The team wanted the motel to feel far and disconnected from the viewer, but also clearly convey it had a lot of history and potential for change. A lot of subtle changes were made to convey these feelings as much as possible.  This piece really pushed me to re-evaluate my technical skills, and also rethink my process when it comes to creating compositions for environments.
